However, few people think about the fact that there are such lakes, which will give odds to some of the seas, both in size and depth and strength of storms occur periodically.

The largest lake on Earth. Its characteristic features
Oddly enough, but the largest lake on Earth we used to call the sea, or the Caspian sea. In fact, taking into account its features, call it the sea is simply impossible. Why? Yes, because according to the definition, the last should fall any river, but located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia the Caspian sea is endorheic.
If you look closely at pictures taken from space, you can immediately note one undeniably important feature. – the Caspian sea has a rather complex shape resembling the letter S from the Latin alphabet.
Its dimensions are really impressive: the length from North to South is approximately 1,200 km, but the distance from the East to the West coast differs in different parts, and therefore, the figure ranges from 195 to 345 km, the average indicator – 315 km.
From a purely geographical point of view, and taking into account his physical conditions, the Caspian sea used to be divided into three parts: Northern, Middle and southern.
The banks, as a rule, smooth and low. And only in the Northern part of the coastline is markedly indented with Islands and channels of such powerful rivers as the Volga and the Urals. In this marshy and extremely low area of water surface in many places covered with thickets.
